What should stay of your AI song? The decisions to make before it is reproduced
You've prompted a song with Suno or Udio that you can't stop listening to, and you want it professionally reproduced? Then one question comes before all others: what exactly is your idea in this song, and what did the AI just add by chance? This guide shows the decisions to make before the new production starts.
Reproducing means deciding
A new production doesn't just make your AI song louder or cleaner. It is rebuilt in the studio: drums, bass, harmonies, arrangement, mix and master. For every element, someone has to decide whether it stays as it is, gets changed or is created from scratch.
The clearer you are beforehand about what matters to you in your song, the closer the result will be to what you hear in your head.
Step 1: name the core of your song
Listen to your song a few times on purpose and ask yourself for every element: would I miss something if this were different?
- The melody, especially in the chorus
- The lyrics or individual lines
- The mood: melancholic, euphoric, dark, playful
- The voice and its character
- The groove and the tempo
- A particular sound, hook or break
Step 2: separate your idea from the AI's coincidences
An AI tool always delivers more than you prompted. Some of it is exactly your idea, some of it is chance: a muddy bass, an arrangement that simply stops after three minutes, a sound that is only there because the tool picked it.
Sort everything into three groups: essential, nice to keep and can go. This list is the most important basis for your first call.
| Element | Keep it if … | Redo it if … |
|---|---|---|
| Melody | it is the reason you love the song | it only works in the chorus and the verse drags |
| Lyrics | they tell your story | lines stumble or are just filler |
| Voice | it is clear and expressive | it sounds washed out or doesn't fit your goal |
| Drums and bass | rarely; they are usually rebuilt | they are muddy or get lost in the club |
| Arrangement | the structure fits your goal | the intro, break or ending doesn't work |
Rules of thumb from practice. What applies to your song is something we clarify in the first call.
Step 3: decide about the voice
The voice is often the first thing that gives away an AI song. If it is good enough, it can be cleaned up and placed properly in the mix. If it doesn't carry the song, there are alternatives you should discuss in the first call.
Important: a new production around the AI voice doesn't turn it into a human voice. If that matters to you, bring it up early.
Step 4: decide where your track should play
A club track needs a different arrangement from a song for playlists or radio. Decide beforehand what you need the track for:
- Club: mixable intro and outro, clear breaks and drops
- Streaming and playlists: gets to the point faster, compact length
- Radio edit and extended mix: both, for different uses
Step 5: pick two or three reference tracks
Reference tracks show how your song should sound: its punch, width and overall sound. The best ones are tracks from your target genre that you would happily hear next to your song in a playlist. They show the direction; they are not templates to copy.
What to bring to your first call
- Your song as a link or file
- The stems, if you have them
- The lyrics
- Your list: essential, nice to keep, can go
- Your goal: club, streaming, radio or all of them
- Two or three reference tracks
Important: rights to your AI song
Whether you may release an AI song commercially depends on your subscription and the current terms of use of the AI tool. Please check this before your release. A new production doesn't automatically settle that question, and it doesn't remove every trace of AI from your song.

FAQ
Is reproduction the same as mastering?
No. Mastering alone makes an AI song louder, not better. In a new production, drums, bass, harmonies, arrangement and mix are rebuilt. Mastering only comes at the very end.
Do I need to know how to produce?
No. You only need to know what matters to you in your song. The list from this guide is enough preparation.
Will my song still sound like mine?
That is the goal. That's why we clarify beforehand what is essential. Whatever you mark as the core stays.
How much does it cost to have an AI song produced?
It depends on how much needs to be rebuilt. At Hirte Music you get a fixed price after a free call.
